The course was enlightening and the lessons learn will have a great impact on my work both ethically and professionally.
Overall, this course has taught me skills which will enable me to drive revenue collection in my department. The instructor’s teaching style was very effective. The information was presented in a very creative manner.

As a manager, the duties and responsibilities of a collection’s manager or supervisor was the most important part of this training. This course is very informative and anyone who is in the business of debt collection can certainly benefit from taking this course.
Having been exposed to this workshop, I now have a broader knowledge of debt collection and will be able to use some of the procedures learned to improve my overall effectiveness.

Writing collection letters (the way that they should be presented to taxpayers), was most valuable to me. The topics were relevant, and were presented in such a way that provoked my thought processes, and made me more aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I have gained a better understanding of telephone courtesy, collections letters, and how they are worded and coded.
I have a better insight into the world of the “underground” economy and how it can impact targets within the Revenue Department. I am even more motivated to do more in terms of improving my skills used in the debt collections process outlined by the instructor.
The instructor’s teaching style was very open – sticking to topic and giving realistic examples of each cited example. I liked that the instructor encouraged each participant to engage and participate in group activities.
There is always room for improvement, and as such, training workshops of this caliber will be necessary. It is my belief that ongoing training should be included in our federal budgets.

The examination of financial statements of business entities was most beneficial to me because I do not have an accounting background, and, as such, I did not know how to research this information. This course will help to deepen and broaden my understanding and thinking. The workshop was very informative and interesting. There was a lot of interaction amongst the participants. The variety of videos and theoretical materials throughout the session kept the workshop very interesting. The videos further emphasized the importance of different techniques that can be used (e.g. improving telephone courtesy, and meeting planning).
After taking this course, I now have a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the collection officer and supervisor in the collections area. Also of importance, was the conduct of effective meeting planning, writing collection letters to get results, and communicating information effectively.
This course is going to help me to improve my overall effectiveness.

Learning to meet goals and targets is one of the best parts of the program. It taught me how to keep better records to compare against my progressive charts. It showed me which areas of taxes to focus on, and reassignment of staff as necessary.
